Best Athletics Referee in Spain!

 
 Yeeeeeaaaaaah! Certainly,  I'm very happy!


The Award

The Spanish Athletics Federation gives referees two awards every year:

• "Mejor Juez del Año"
• "Mejor Juez Revelación del Año"

The first one goes to the best career as a referee. The jury take into account the referee's entire curriculum in the world of athletics while the award called Mejor Juez Revelación del Año goes to referees under the age of 35 and the jury assess mostly the year in which the award is given so it is 2010.

Given that the jury has to separate one year from the rest of one's career, which definitely is an extremely difficult task, everybody assumes that you're also the best referee but under the age of 35.

How I feel

Now it's inevitable to look backwards and think about what I did in the whole present year. Especially hard were June and July when the start of the European Athletics Championship was close. I have vivid memories of those days in which I felt overwhelmed because of the workload and the pressure, all thanks to my bosses, so that we could reach the fixed objectives.

After the championship all referees were congratulated for the work done in "one of the best if not the best European Athletics Championships ever" according to the President of the European Athletics Federation. Then this award is for me the icing on the cake and:

1. It shows me that I'm doing a good job
2. It gives me a great deal of energy to keep it up.

It's never too late to...well, I wouldn't consider that as a fact but when you put off something is because you know you'll be able to do it later on. So, here I am with the entry I wanted so much to publish and because of my little free time and a technical issue to convert the video format .mov into something smaller I couldn't do it before.

This is the point when someone might say..."lazy is the appropiate word which resumes all that you wrote before" and you would be right in a roughly 50%. I'm the first one to regret not having spent more time working in the blog, be aware of that :)

It was an amazing gig which I will never forget for two things. The first one is because my sister enjoyed as I never saw her before. It means that she was extremely happy. Let me tell you that the ticket for the gig was my birthday present for her. And the other one is that I grew up listening to Spandau Ballet thanks to my sister and I feel like I could have never known them if it wasn't for her. Haven't you guessed I'm a fan yet? :)

Hello everybody!

I must confess that I've been a bit lazy lately. I didn't feel up to writing because I've been focused on my studies and at some point I felt I was running out of time to get prepared for the exams.

Now I'm still working on that but I realised I owed you an explanation for my hesitation to write here. Anyway, let me tell you that I'll be back after June 12th because it will be the date of my last exam.

The topics I'll cover are in the right column below the motto "A fulfilled life!" so don't forget to take a look at it every now and then to know which will be my next post!
