Yeeeeeaaaaaah! Certainly, I'm very happy!
The Award
The Spanish Athletics Federation gives referees two awards every year:
- "Mejor Juez del Año"
- "Mejor Juez Revelación del Año"
Given that the jury has to separate one year from the rest of one's career, which definitely is an extremely difficult task, everybody assumes that you're also the best referee but under the age of 35.
Here you have the regulation (in Spanish only, sorry).
How I feel
Now it's inevitable to look backwards and think about what I did in the whole present year. Especially hard were June and July when the start of the European Athletics Championship was close. I have vivid memories of those days in which I felt overwhelmed because of the workload and the pressure, all thanks to my bosses, so that we could reach the fixed objectives.
After the championship all referees were congratulated for the work done in "one of the best if not the best European Athletics Championships ever" according to the President of the European Athletics Federation. Then this award is for me the icing on the cake and:
- It shows me that I'm doing a good job
- It gives me a great deal of energy to keep it up.
This is my curriculum of the year 2010.
